| I Vidhika Punjani, am currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences in the Department of Organic Chemistry working with Prof. Piotr Kaszyński. I work on the design, synthesis, and characterization of blatter radical-based paramagnetic liquid crystals. Along with that, I am interested in exploring helical radicals for spintronic applications. I completed my Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, India (Department of Chemical Science) under the supervision of Prof. Santanu Kumar Pal. My thesis is focused on the design, synthesis, and characterization of chiral bent-shaped liquid crystal molecules for the stabilization of exotic mesophases such as blue phase (BP) and twist grain boundary phase (TGB). Moreover, I have also explored unsymmetrical bent-shaped cholesterol-based dimers for the development of ferroelectric as well as antiferroelectric materials. In addition to this, I have also worked on the design, synthesis, and characterization of three-ring-based bent-core mesogens for the stabilization of room-temperature nematic and smectic phases in my master's. |
